Today is a beautiful day, just like every day. Somtimes a day may be beautiful for one person but not another, but every day the sun shines it’s light on us and it is up to us what we do with that light – what we do with that contiguous stream of photons which directly connects our every cell to the sun.
Like every day, I check on the quail. No eggs yet today. I have taken the majority of worms and worm castings produced over the last year and incorporated it into my cover cropping as well as other spring plantings, so I was down to about one and a half levels of worms. I set up another 4 full layers. To do this I use mainly coco coir. First I hydrate it, and let all the cholorine evaporate off. Then I mix it in with some active castings, compost, biochar, azomite and powdered eggshells. As I started to mix the levels of the worms I noted that there are a ton of worms. I took a few from my garden and threw htem in with the red wigglers a few months back. Now I see quite a few of both strains of worms, so I think that is cool.
The worms also apparently love quail poop. I am going to go try that out. I’ll find a few prime pieces of turd and throw it in with the worms and observe them. It is pretty clear when they love something ,as there will be a dense mound of worms just going to town. Avocados bring about this behavior as they seem to love them.
